Lotusland
Occasionally labeled Eden, and among the 10 best Botanical Gardens in the world Lotusland is pure magic. Walska, a well-known Polish opera singer, purchased the estate in 1941. She spent the next 43 years crafting Lotusland. Nestled in the hills of Montecito, California, the 37 acres estate is bursting with dramatic and whimsical specimens. It is recognized not just for the diversity of its plants, but the extraordinary design that makes up each smaller garden within. Lotusland is also critical for scientific research and was the first botanical garden in the United States to become entirely organic. This is the first volume to pay tribute the magnificent treasure and is sure to captivate anyone interested in not only horticulture, but also design and sustainability.
