Our HG unscented candles are close to our hearts, not only for their stunning simplicity and warm amber glow but also for the artisans who pour so much love into making them.
Our candles are crafted by a family-run business in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, that's committed to fair trade and ethical manufacturing. These traditional Santa Rosa candles, used within churches and cathedrals throughout Mexico, are made using a traditional dipping technique, a process that involves repeatedly bathing the wick in melted paraffin and amber, allowing each layer to cool and solidify before dipping again. This meticulous method results in a unique ringed appearance on the bottom of our pillar candles. The warm hue of these candles is achieved through the infusion of genuine amber, or crystallized tree sap, into the paraffin.
What we love most about this family-run business is their dedication to preserving tradition and empowering local artisans. By providing stable jobs and training in traditional crafts, they ensure the survival of traditional skills while using creativity to drive sustainability and community support. We are so proud to offer these unscented candles that not only add an elegant touch to any home or space but also support the livelihoods of skilled artisans while preserving the timeless beauty of traditional craftsmanship.
